Dear Editor,
In the October 4 letters to the editor in the Edmonton Journal, Terry Willox questioned the methodology that resulted in Alison Redford becoming Alberta’s next premier. I would question his definition of the word “most.” Gary Mar did not get most of the votes on the first ballot. Most would be at least 51 per cent. Most of the voters did not vote for him and thus the need for a second ballot. It would have been interesting to see what the outcome would have been if the preferential ballot had been used the first time.
I hope that Alison Redford will think about the leadership outcome when she is approached to introduce preferential balloting in our Alberta General elections.
