Dear Editor,
The County of Barrhead has decided to rebuild and pave Township Road 604. This is a great idea and much appreciated for those that use this road. Today I am very sad because it rained yesterday, not because we don’t need any more rain but because in the process of building the road (Township Rd 604) the county has removed all of the gravel from our road, then it rains. The county cannot work on wet road surfaces.
There are some people who think that this is a good time to go four wheeling in the mud and it is. The problem is that they leave ruts that are very deep and they leave huge globs of mud on the roadway. The problem lies with now how are the people with small cars and two wheel drive vehicles supposed to travel down the road? They cannot, the ruts are too deep and it is a hazard trying to navigate around all those clumps of dirt not to mention these clumps of dirt left on the road are very dangerous at night time as they are hard to see and once they dry out they could cause an accident.
So for the residents of 604 we have a problem because someone wants to have some fun. Oh by the way, if someone living along this road happens to have a medical emergency, how is the ambulance to get to that person in a timely manner? And because we cannot get immediate assistance from ambulance, fire or police which could cause a death, who would be responsible? Definitely not the county or the home owner.
