MONTREAL — Montreal police are investigating the death of a six-month-old baby in a downtown borough last week.

Police spokesman Manuel Couture says officers responded to a 911 call Friday evening about an unconscious infant in a residence on Ontario street, in the Ville-Marie borough.

He says the child was taken to hospital where he or she was declared dead.

Couture says police are working with the coroner's office to determine the causes and circumstances of the death.

Nobody has been arrested or charged.

Couture says police automatically investigate the deaths of children under the age of six.
