Think water is water? Think again!

Water of different quality needs different systems to treat it.

Most companies that supply water systems would have you believe that no matter what the quality of your well water, their one-size-fits-all system will take care of it.

Kevin Oester, owner of Enviro-Clear Water Systems Inc., knows better.

“What Enviro-Clear does that other water and plumbing companies don't do is we build the equipment as per the water quality, ” he explained. “We test the water, we come into the home and we customize the water system. We actually build it for their particular water. ”

Kevin explained that there can be a big difference in water quality between wells.

“Due to different iron, hardness, sodium, manganese, H2S, nitrates, tannin, pH, etc. levels in the water, no two wells are the same, ” he said. “Two wells on the same yard can be totally different. ”

And water of different quality needs different systems to treat it, Kevin stressed.

“Four out of five domestic water systems installed by other water and plumbing companies are misapplied, ” he claimed.

Enviro-Clear uses 48 different media beds in combination with 14 different tank sizes. They handle every means of water treat-ment and can handle any water problem.

“There is no water too bad for Enviro-Clear, ” Kevin said.

Over the 28 years that Enviro-Clear has been in operation, Kevin estimates he's installed over 7,500 water systems, each of them customized for each client's specific water conditions.

“That's why we can have 4,500 systems that work, ” he said. ‘We install a lot of water systems in new homes as well as fix and repair all makes of water treatment equipment, ” he said, noting that Enviro-Clear offers several cost-saving options.

“If people have existing equipment, we can rebuild it so they don't have to buy a brand-new one, ” he said. “(And) because we build the water treat-ment systems from components, it's less expensive for the customer. We've elimi-nated the middlemen. ”

Kevin's background is in commercial treatment (large water systems), which taught him the importance of flow rates.

“When we test the water, we automatically check the flow rate of the well pump, ” he said. “Every system requires a different flow rate of water to be able to clean itself properly. Depending on the well pump rate, they may require a smaller or larger system that we provide for them. ”

Kevin also has the plumbing expertise necessary to ensure the water system is properly installed; e.g. trapped drain lines, bypassing outside taps and cattle waterers, replacing the pressure tank.

“We redo enough plumbing to not restrict flows for our customized units. ”

Not only does adjusting the flow rate extend the life of your system by allowing it to self-clean, it also has a significant impact on the water quality.

“Sometimes well pumps should be changed to accommodate flow rates for particular filters, ” he said.

While many bulk-manufactured water systems boast that they can remove two parts per million (ppm) of iron from water, Kevin said with his customized systems using a variety of filter media, they can remove as high as 50 ppm of iron. A trouble-free customized system is what you need.

“It's bottled water quality; in your home. ”
