The recent hot weather is forecast to continue until the end of the week, with rain expected Friday, Saturday, and Sunday — just in time for everyone to be off work.
Weather in the high teens and low 20s is set for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in the Athabasca, Barrhead, and Westlock areas, with temperatures cooling off overnight before rising again in the morning. The sun will be out — although good luck seeing it through the smoke as an air quality warning remains in effect — all three days before hiding behind some cloud coverage starting Thursday June 12.
Some much needed moisture is forecast for the weekend, with 40 to 60 per cent of the region expected to receive some precipitation. Athabasca County, Westlock County, and the Lac La Biche Forest Protection area are all in a complete fire ban, with the County of Barrhead under a fire advisory notice as of June 9. The Village of Clyde is also in a fire advisory.
The County of Barrhead is expecting precipitation Thursday as well, with 30 per cent of the region forecast to receive rain.
The weekend rain isn’t going to do much to cool things down however, with highs remaining in the 18 to 20 degree range through to Sunday.
