BARRHEAD — The Barrhead Dairy Queen, which opened its doors back in February, was able to raise just over $2,000 for the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation through customers purchasing Blizzards on “Miracle Treat Day” back in August.
Recently, DQ Canada announced that through the combined efforts of Dairy Queen locations throughout northern Alberta, a total $10 million had been raised to support urgent needs at the Stollery, such as specialized equipment, programs, trainings and research. Barrhead DQ was able to raise a total of $2,048.61 for the Stollery.
Store manager Yenny Pak said 2023 marked their first year in business and also their inaugural Miracle Treat Day.
“Before Miracle Treat Day, our team was uncertain about the level of activity we would experience. Fortunately, thanks to the kind people in Barrhead, many of our valued customers visited, purchasing Blizzards, and generously donating to the Stollery,” said Pak.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the remarkable success of our franchise, a testament to the dedication and hard work of our exceptional team. … We believe in using our success as a force for good, and this is a moment of great pride for both our team and the impactful contributions we have been able to make.”
Pak said she wished to thank the community for its incredible support, adding they are excited about the positive impact they have made in the first year and they look forward to continuing to serve and give back in the years ahead.
Since DQ’s partnership with the Children’s Miracle Network began in 1984, independently owned and operated DQ restaurants have helped raise more than $50 million for local hospitals.
