CLYDE – A potential walking trail, a large Christmas tree in town, and town beautification are on the village’s potential wish list.
During preliminary budget discussions at the village’s Policy and Priorities Committee meeting on Sept. 16, Chief Administrative Officer Jaye Parrent asked council if there was anything they wanted to see in the upcoming budget.
“We need some main street clean up,” said Coun. Alex Strembesky, adding how unsightly some areas are with weeds and old wrecked vehicles. “We have to force people to clean it up or put up a privacy fence.”
Coun. Danielle Dillman agreed that the "tall weeds" growing on the streets are "unsightly" and need to be cleaned up.
Mayor Charis Aguirre said the village needs to find a way to encourage residents to get involved in beautifying the community.
Coun. Donna Moore said the owners of two unsightly properties don’t even live in Clyde and they keep getting ticketed by the village.
Parrent said they are on the village’s radar.
Aguirre said she is curious to know what the community’s vision of a walking trail would look like.
Deputy Mayor Alma Cruise Irwin said one potential area for a walking path would be around the agricultural grounds and golf course.
Cruise Irwin also said she would like to see a large Christmas tree in the village. Strembesky said the village needs new Christmas lights.
Flags hanging from poles on the street, once the village's rebranding is finished, would be nice, said Moore.
