WESTLOCK — As family and friends continue to grieve the tragic loss of Claire Leveque, a young Westlock woman murdered in the Shetland Islands last month, a GoFundMe page has now been created to help bring Claire home.

“On behalf of Clint Leveque, we are raising funds in the memory of Claire Leveque who, at the tender age of 24, was murdered in a violent domestic violence incident while in the Shetland Islands, Scotland on February 11, 2024,” said GoFundMe organizer Chris Wallis, who is the step-brother to Claire’s father Clint.

The post continues and says that although the murder investigation is ongoing with the Scotland police, “the family is eager to bring Claire home and seek justice for this tragic loss.”

All funds raised will be used to facilitate Claire's return from Scotland and funeral arrangements in addition to any required travel expenses for Clint to attend the expected court proceedings.

The GoFundMe page, which was set up March 1, has already raised $500 of a $15,000 goal total.

Although Clint Leveque has since moved to Winnipeg, Claire and her younger brother attended R.F. Staples School and many residents, including former teachers and acquaintances who knew her and the family while they lived in Westlock, have shared condolences and words of support in recent weeks on social media.

“Your support and encouragement as the family navigates this complex international process is greatly appreciated during this difficult time,” said Wallis.
