WESTLOCK – The Westlock-based Gateway Research Organization (GRO) is taking a bold new direction in keeping up with the ever-changing world of agriculture technology and are looking for input from producers and members in the area to help get this started, says the organization’s manager, Sandeep Nain.

The organization’s annual general meeting is slated for Wednesday, April 5, at the Hazel Bluff Hall, starting at 9 a.m., with a full-day agenda of some of the new and innovative technology in agriculture presented. Ideas such as spot-spray technology, cutting-edge investment, drones in agriculture, cover crops, carbon testing and payout, regenerative fertilizer and infrastructure, cattle camera innovation and more will be presented. Plans for this coming season will include discussing demos, promotion plans and tours.

Athabasca-Barrhead-Westlock MLA Glenn van Dijken, who is a farmer in the Dapp area, will kick off the AGM with his address to those attending. The various topics as noted above will be discussed, and Paige Kuczmarski will be giving an update on the Alberta Invasive Species Council.

GRO’s annual report of activities and the results of the many crop plots, plus reports from Nain and others will be available at the meeting. As well, there will be a possible election for two new members to the board of directors.

There is no charge for this meeting, and lunch is included, but attendees must pre-register by contacting GRO at gatewayresearchorganization.com or by calling 780-349-4546 or text 780-249-1440.
