Halloween events on tap in Westlock area

WESTLOCK — A haunted house and a party for pre-schoolers aare among the Halloween-themed events happening in and around Westlock as Oct. 31 draws ever closer.

First, the Town of Westlock events committee will be putting on a free haunted house at the Westlock Aquatic Centre from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27. This event is for youth age 10 and up. Those who brave the terrors of the haunted house will receive a candy bag (while supplies last).

On Saturday, Oct. 28, there will be a "Spook-tacular Cabaret" hosted at the Jarvie Community Hall, with doors opening at 8:30 p.m. Entry is $10 (or $15 if not dressed up) and there will be prizes for individual and group costumes. There will also be a DJ and midnight snacks. No minors are allowed.

Also happening that same evening is a Halloween Family Dance hosted at the Pickardville Hall, starting at 7 p.m. Admission is $15 for ages 14 and up, $10 for youth ages five to 13 and free for children four and under.

There will be prizes for the best costumes, a lunch served at 10 p.m., snacks, a 50/50 draw, silent auction, DJ and candy bags for the kids.

On Tuesday, Oct. 31, a "Boo Bash" for children under the age of six will be held at the Westlock Rotary Spirit Centre from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. There will be games, crafts and activities for the pre-schoolers who take part, and wearing costumes is encouraged.

Finally, there will be a puppet show showcasing a Halloween adventure at the Westlock Public Library on Oct. 31 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
