A 57-year-old man is dead following an early-morning Sept. 9 head-on crash on Highway 44 near Pickardville.
At approximately 5:15 a.m. Sept. 9, Westlock RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 44 north of Township Road 585.
Police report that the preliminary investigation reveals that a car heading northbound on Highway 44 crossed the centre line and collided with a truck that was travelling southbound.
The 57-year-old driver of the car from Alexander First Nations was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man driving the truck was transported to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
The highway reopened to traffic around 10:30 a.m. Sept. 9 and Westlock RCMP, along with a RCMP collision analyst, continue to investigate the crash.
