Jarvie and Westlock seniors gear up for Alberta Floor Curling competition

Westlock and Jarvie seniors are brushing up on their skills as they prepare for the upcoming Alberta Floor Curling Association (AFCA) Championships set to take place at the end of May. 

On Feb. 27, local enthusiasts practiced at the Jarvie Community Centre 

The semi-finals will be in Jarvie and Tofield in mid-May, said event organizer Lorne Beamish. The winners from these two playoffs will go on to compete in Edmonton at the SEESA tournament on May 30 and 31. 

Each team will play three games a day and the total points for the two days will determine the 2025 champion. The winning team will be awarded the trophy as well as personal trophies. There will be awards for first, second, third and fourth place teams.

North teams include Jarvie, Dapp, Mayerthorpe, Flatbush, Westlock, Whitecourt, Villeneuve, Redwater, Onoway, Fawcett, and Anselmo. The south teams include Tofield, Kinsella, Stony Plan, Vegreville, Mundare, Bawlf, Fort Saskatchewan, Edson, SEESA (South East Edmonton Seniors Association), NWESS (North West Edmonton Seniors Society, and Strome.
