The Clyde Agricultural Society’s 2023 volunteer of the year was Kelly Patry, centre, with 2022 recipients, Barb and Dennis Carbert, who presented the award at Ag 500 held April 29.

CLYDE –Kelly Patry is the 2023 Clyde Agricultural Society’s Volunteer of the Year.

The award was presented at the ag society’s annual Ag 500 night, held in the Village of Clyde April 29 and was presented to her by last year’s recipients, Barb and Dennis Carbert.

In presenting the award, Dennis read off a long list of volunteer activities that more than qualified Patry for this special honour. Among many things, she is a director of the ag society, helps organize Clyde’s Summer Solstice event each year, as well as the Christmas trade show. She has also worked at many of the casinos for the ag society, helped out at the Eleanor Hall School and played a big part in supporting the children with the Ukrainian Dance Club.

Add to that, Kelly has coached T-Ball and minor ball, as well as playing with the slo-pitch team. She has also walked and sold cookbooks and blankets all in support of breast cancer research for the past 10 years.

Dennis noted too: “When asked, she not only volunteers, she takes charge. She’s a leader. We are so fortunate and proud to have this young lady on our team here in Clyde.”

Patry is the latest of many honoured with the award as photos on the wall in the foyer of the Clyde and District Complex date back to 1997. The ag society itself has been going for well over 40 years, and with the exception of one COVID-19 year, have held the annual Ag 500 night for almost as many years.
