WESTLOCK – A 31-year-old Westlock man who police say blew through a stop sign and caused an Oct. 6 crash on Highway 44 just north of Pibroch that sent one person to hospital, has been charged under the Traffic Safety Act (TSA).

Westlock RCMP Staff Sgt. Al Baird confirmed Oct. 11 that the driver of a black Ford F-150 pickup truck involved in the two-vehicle accident faces a single count of failing to obey a stop sign before entering an intersection under the TSA and is scheduled to appear in Westlock Provincial Court Dec. 7 — police have not identified the man.

Baird previously reported that at around 5 p.m., Oct. 6, the F-150 had been travelling east on Township Road 612, roughly 13 kilometres north of Westlock, before colliding with a white SUV, occupied by an Athabasca couple, that had been heading north on Highway 44. A passenger in the SUV was taken to the Westlock Healthcare Centre with undisclosed injuries, while Baird said none of the others involved were seriously injured.
