WESTLOCK — If you happen to attend a volleyball or basketball tournament in the Westlock area over the next couple of months, you may see a sleek new bus decorated with the Pembina Panthers logo in the parking lot.
That is Pembina North Community School’s (PNCS) new bus, which they are now using to transport their students/athletes out to sporting events and field trips.
Principal Daryl Chattargoon said the new bus, which is actually a used 2013 F330 bus, sports a total of 27 seats, including passenger seats, which is the perfect size for most of the school’s needs.
“It’s a pretty sweet bus. We’re lucky to have it,” he added.
Chattargoon said there have been times in recent years where it’s been difficult to find transportation for Pembina North students due to the shortage of bus drivers.
The school was fortunate enough to have sufficient funds in school reserves to buy the vehicle with the assistance of the PNCS fundraising society, Chattargoon indicated.
“This will save us on transportation costs in the future,” he said.
Chattargoon added they plan to use their certified staff and community members to drive the bus.
