Police need help following Sunday night graffiti spree in Westlock

Mailboxes, dumpsters and at least one business hit

WESTLOCK – Police are looking for help from the public following a weekend graffiti spree on the east side of Westlock that saw businesses, dumpsters, mailboxes and one U-Haul vehicle tagged.

Acting Westlock RCMP Detachment commander Cpl. Riley Sutherland confirmed that the vandalism, which occurred between 10-11 p.m. Sunday, April 23, was contained in the area of 100th Street to 103rd Street and 104th Avenue to 108th Avenue. All 18 tags reported to police so far contain the same markings and were scrawled in blue and red spray paint, while the suspect is a man, with a thin build, 5’8” to 5’10”, wearing a black, long top or coat and lighter colour pants.

“Members are currently attempting to gather video surveillance from the business but if members of the public have doorbell cams, or surveillance of any suspicious activity throughout the night, we’d appreciate it,” said Sutherland April 25.

If you have any information on this, or any crime, call the detachment at 780-349-4492 Monday to Friday during office hours, or if you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.

RCMP always encourages the public to report any criminal or suspicious activity as it tells them “where to look, who to look for, and where to patrol in the future” while if you see a crime in progress, dial 911.
