Westlock RCMP are investigating after two businesses were robbed by masked men last week.

The Esso gas station on Highway 44 was robbed by an individual wearing a ski mask May 22 at about 10:30 p.m., while the Westlock Liquor Store on 107 St. was robbed by two individuals in masks May 17, around 9:30 p.m, said Staff Sgt. Al Baird.

Both incidents involved the masked suspects entering the businesses and demanding cash.

During the gas station robbery “a male entered the store and robbed the clerk of cash and then fled the scene,” said Baird. “We’re still working on getting all the surveillance.”

The liquor store robbery saw two males threaten the clerk and flee the scene with cash.

Baird said one suspect was measured at five-foot-nine, while the other was over six feet tall.

“The last couple weeks there have been some calls coming in like that, so we’re just trying to get a handle on things to see who is out and around. Every time it gets warmer it gets more severe, it has always been like that, wherever I’ve been,” said Baird.
