Residents of Westlock and Thorhild have reported several cell service outages throughout the week.
There were two noticeable outages in Westlock and Thorhild Counties in the early morning of July 24 and on July 27 from around 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
According to Saara Rahikka, a TELUS representative, the service outages are due to work currently being conducted on the cell tower near Clyde on Range Road 33 which was vandalized on June 14.
“As a temporary solution, our teams are continually adjusting nearby towers to provide as much coverage as possible to the community, though there may be some customers who experience intermittent or no service,” said Rahikka. “As we make these upgrades to enhance service for our customers, service is sometimes turned off while our crews complete the work for about an hour at a time.”
Repairs to the tower are expected to be completed around September.
Work is also being done on another cell tower in the area near Bruderheim which was vandalized in March. Work on the Bruderheim tower is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
Additional information on planned service disruptions can be viewed on the TELUS Service Status site.
