Michelle Rau has been honoured with the Exemplary Teacher’s Award.

DAPP — Michelle Rau, a beloved educator at Pembina North Community School, has been named the recipient of the Exemplary Teacher’s Award by Pembina Hills School Division. The honour was officially announced on May 2.

“With over two decades of dedicated service to Pembina Hills, Michelle has consistently exemplified the qualities of an outstanding educator and community member,” the division noted on its website.

Rau began her career at Jarvie School before moving to Pembina North in Dapp, where she has spent the last 10 years making a lasting impact on students and colleagues alike.

Her adaptability and commitment were on full display this past year when she transitioned from teaching junior high science to teaching Grade 4 — a shift that required mastering new teaching practices, assessment methods, and curriculum content. She embraced the challenge with enthusiasm and determination, and her students’ focused engagement and cheerful attitudes are a testament to her success.

Beyond the classroom, Rau is a passionate supporter of school athletics, particularly volleyball, where she has helped students develop confidence, teamwork, and cherished school memories. She also leads numerous school initiatives, including managing the recycling program and directing the proceeds toward student trips.

Most recently, she organized a memorable Grade 4 field trip to Drumheller — a highlight students will remember and talk about for years to come.

Rau is known for her energy, leadership, and commitment to making Pembina North Community School the best it can be. She continues to be a role model to students and staff, consistently going above and beyond.

“Michelle is most deserving of being recognized with the Exemplary Teacher Service Award,” the school division said in its announcement. “We extend our heartfelt congratulations.”
