The Town of Westlock is officially looking for a new chief administrator.

Town council accepted Dwight Dibben’s resignation at their Nov. 12 meeting, effective for Nov. 15.

“We want to thank him for his contribution to the town and we wish him all the best,” said mayor Ralph Leriger.

Dibben has been on medical leave from the municipality since February.

Dibben came on board with the town in April 2018, after serving for three years as the CAO for the Town of Drayton Valley.

He also had more than 20 experience working with the Government of Alberta in various roles ranging from researcher and writer to chief of staff for numerous ministries, starting with the Don Getty in 1992, just out of university.

After the resignation of Dean Krause in December 2017, who filled the position for the previous four years, council hired the services of Transitional Solutions to attract potential candidates for the town’s top administrative position.

Council cut down a list of more than 50 candidates, to 10, to four, with Dibben eventually being offered the position, and accepting.

Mayor Leriger said he expects a similar process to take place in the coming months as they search for Dibben’s replacement.

“We will move forward,” he said.
