WESTLOCK – Highway 18 east of the Village of Clyde near Range Road 245 was closed for the majority of the afternoon Friday, Nov. 25, following an 11:30 a.m. collision between two eastbound semis.

Westlock RCMP Staff Sgt. Al Baird confirmed that the “roads were very icy at the time” as one of the semis, a lumber truck, ran into the back of the other semi, a grocery truck — just after 1 p.m., RCMP closed the highway and asked motorists to "avoid the area to allow emergency responders space to do their jobs" and to take an alternate route.

As of 4:30 p.m., Westlock RCMP were still waiting for one vehicle to be removed from the scene and the highway remained closed — they advise to check 511 for further updates. Baird reports that there were no injuries and the matter is still under investigation.
