WESTLOCK COUNTY – The county council approved $11,000 in grants to be split between five community groups, based on recommendations from Westlock County’s Community Grant Advisory Committee (CGAC).
County Community Services Coordinator Adrienne Finnegan, in her report to county at its regular meeting on Sept. 24, said they received six applications from five different organizations in four different categories.
“The operating grant continues to be a popular category for requests,” read Finnegan’s report.
The groups that were approved include the Westlock Pre-School Society, Westlock Skating Club, Vimy and District Lions Club, Long Island Lake Society (Camp Mack), and the Westlock and District Agricultural Society.
In addition, the CGAC received five scholarship applications and recommended two recipients for the total available $1,000 budget. The recipients were Ruby Kubinec and Jada Forbes. They each get $500.
The county has $48,630 left in its community grant program.
