WESTLOCK – The Westlock Healthcare Centre has received $15,400 from the Westlock Legion for nine new beds for the emergency room.

Hospital site manager Meagan McCoy-McLevin accepted the cheque May 8 from Legion poppy fund chair Lisbeth Booth and Legion president Dave Hall — McCoy-McLevin expressed her sincere thanks to the Legion for this timely and welcome gift.

Hall said all of the money came from poppy sales throughout the area in the lead-up to Remembrance Day — all monies raised in this manner stay in the area.

It certainly points out the value of purchasing a poppy or several each year in special remembrance of those who fought and those who died for the freedoms we enjoy in this country today. So, when the time comes this fall, be generous when you buy your poppy and wear it proudly.
