WESTLOCK — The Westlock Rotary Interact Club, a high school age youth group sponsored by the Westlock Rotary Club, will be holding their annual fundraiser this Saturday evening, Nov. 4.
The event takes place at the Westlock & District Community Hall and features a great supper followed by live entertainment featuring the musical talent of a local young man, Koltan Potts as the opener for singer/songwriter Ben Chase.
Koltan Potts grew up in Westlock County and is now a married man and owns a home in the town of Westlock. He enjoys singing and is also a songwriter himself. He has been seen locally at various events, and Interact leader Brandi Wolff notes, “I have seen him play at the Hallywood Jamboree several times, and he is good at drawing a fun local crowd.”
The headliner, Ben Chase, was born and raised on Prince Edward Island, though he eventually left the east coast for Alberta. He was a 2019 finalist in the Project WILD Country Artist Development competition and later earned the Fans’ Choice award at the 2020 Alberta Country Music Awards.
For the last two years, the 26-year-old has made Nashville his home. His first two Nashville singles — “Call Me Drunk” and “Fading” — earned him the cover of Apple Music’s Canada’s Country Playlist in February and helped him pass one million streams on the platform in April. His follow-up single, “Small Town Talking,” netted him the cover of Amazon Music Canada’s “Just North of Nashville” playlist, while the accompanying music video was featured by CMT.com.
Notably, he just released his debut album, “That Was Then, This is Now,” which is available on all digital streaming platforms.
His bio also notes, “On stage, his energy has brought him to the Calgary Stampede, The Cavendish Beach Music Festival, Big Valley Jamboree, and Country Thunder Alberta.”
The Westlock Rotary Interact Club this year has a total of 18 members ready to take on local and international service projects. Interact members of past years have taken on such projects as rebuilding the outdoor skating rink boards just south of the Westlock Elementary School and a shelter at the dog park on the north side of town beside the Rotary Walking Trail. They have also taken on international projects in Belize and Mexico.
Funds raised from this special Fundraiser event will help raise funds for other local and international service projects. A great evening, great meal, and great entertainment for all ages.
Tickets for this Interact Club Fundraiser are just $60 per person, or $500 for a table of 1o persons. Tickets are available at Royal LePage in Westlock, #201 - 10004 - 107 Street in Westlock.
