Another youth has appeared in Westlock Court of Justice on April 30 to plead not guilty to the brutal attack against an 18-year old woman in Long Island Lake.
The youth, who cannot be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, appeared on CCTV footage to request additional time to find a lawyer. The judge ruled to postpone the preliminary trial until proper representation could be found.
The youth is being charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of robbery, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of failure to comply. This comes a week after one of their alleged accomplices pleaded guilty to the attack.
The four youths were accused of assaulting and attempting to murder the 18-year-old woman in September 2024 in a wooded area just outside of Westlock. Three of the accused have elected to be tried by a judge and jury. The preliminary inquiry is slated to take place in September 2025.
The sentencing for the youth who pleaded guilty to the attack will take place on Sept. 10, 2025.
