Athabasca RCMP are continuing their investigation into the reported disappearance of Rhonda Cardinal, a 41-year-old female from the Calling Lake area.
Cardinal is described as a woman of native descent, 5’4 and weighing about 170 pounds with long black hair.
On the evening of Aug 1, RCMP had been notified that Cardinal did not return to a small remote hunting cabin after walking away the previous day. The cabin is located approximately 20 kilometres north east of Calling Lake.
By Aug. 2, RCMP dedicated a number of resources to the investigation including the RCMP helicopter in the search for Cardinal. The search continued on Aug. 3 with a ground crew consisting of members of the RCMP and of the Calling Lake Search & Rescue unit. RCMP Sergeant Brian Scott said they will continue the search with additional ground crews throughout the weekend as well.
