Alberta Transportation on schedule for interchange construction

Alberta Transportation has not put the brakes on the Highway 55/813 interchange project, a spokesperson said last week.

Alberta Transportation has not put the brakes on the Highway 55/813 interchange project, a spokesperson said last week.

The only slight hold-up, said Heather Kazuba, is that Alberta Transportation is awaiting receipt of federal permits before they can begin construction.

"As soon as we have those federal permits, we 're able to move forward on the overall project, " said Kazuba.

She said Alberta Transportation plans to have the utility relocation done by the end of June, but said that even if the relocation is not complete by that time, the project can still go ahead.

"The utility area is a very small area of construction, so it is possible that the two of those could proceed together, " said Kazuba, adding that they don 't think that will be necessary.

"At this point we are not behind, " she said.

Kazuba confirmed that Alberta Transportation has yet to tender the construction project, which she said they hope to do "very soon. "
