ATHABASCA – Athabasca RCMP are asking the public to stay away from the area between Range Road 212 and 221 off Highway 55 after firefighters and other support crews had problems accessing the area due to a sudden influx of traffic.
The fire, which started this afternoon, May 3, is located primarily on uninhabited Crown land near Jackfish Lake. Police say that many of the access roads are single lanes, and there isn’t much space to navigate a larger vehicle such as a water truck, fire engine, or bulldozer and need the roads clear.
