An attempt to assist business and bring in more tourism dollars has come to fruition for the Boyle and District Chamber of Commerce.

The group commissioned a local artist to create a realistic map, drawn to scale, of the village that highlights the community’s business areas and services.

Chamber president Colin Piquette explained the concept was suggested at one of their monthly meeting late last year.

“Something similar was done by a private company many years ago as a fun community map for tourists,” he stated.

“It was brought up that it was very out of date and that we should think about doing an update with a focus on highlighting our business sector – especially Chamber members – as well as the many services and community organizations Boyle has available.”

The large-sized fold out map will feature the community map on one side, while the other side will provide residents and tourists alike with a list of Boyle and region special events – such as the Boyle Rodeo and the Wildberry Festival – along with a listing of community service clubs and other amenities.

“The map will be in full colour and marketed to people in the immediate area, as well as those that come up to the area’s lakes and recreation areas in order to show people what Boyle has to offer,” Piquette explained.

“It will also provide any people that are new to the area with information, something that may not have been happening as much as one would like.”

Piquette said the map will be offered for free and that the price for producing the map is quite reasonable.

The final cost and number of maps that will be printed wasn’t available immediately, but Piquette stated the project will be paid for through cost-recovery advertising.

He stated that ads will appear on the certain sections of the map with Chamber members receiving preferential spots and pricing.
