A clean village is a happy village.

Thanks to the collaborative effort of local volunteers, council members and organizer Marilyn Meichel, Boyle’s clean-up day was a rousing and fruitful success.

During the five-hour venture, which took place on May 14, 36 pickup trucks, two dump trucks, 12 trailers and 29 fridges were hauled to the Boyle landfill site where the village council generously took care of the tab.

“Many thanks go to them (council) and their continued support,” stated Wendy Chromiak, who was one of many volunteers who sacrificed a little elbow grease.

The dumping station waived fees on all freon-free appliances.

Several local businesses made donations toward the endeavor, including Boyle Co-op, AG Foods, Lo & Behold and Boyle resident Sharon Lakatose. Alice Wlos, Denice Lebeuf and Ann Smith hosted a lunch following the clean-up, each contributing a portion of the food as well.

Boyle residents have been overwhelmingly appreciative of the clean-up effort. It was the first year the village had tackled such a chore.
