It’s time to speak up, Boyle.

Boyle residents who have been itching for a chance to speak vis-ŕ-vis with their mayor and village council members will have an opportunity to voice their concerns and/or kudos on April 11 during a public meeting.

“It is going to be very general in nature,” said Boyle chief administrative officer Charlie Ashbey, who on March 28 took over the position from the then acting CAO Elly Zeggelaar.

Those who attend the assembly are encouraged to address any enquires they may have regarding village operations. The meeting, which was originally announced during council’s Feb. 2 meeting, was initially intended to focus on public concerns over the community’s rising utility costs and to reveal the village’s 2011 budget.

“We have to all be on the same page,” said councillor Sam Assaf back in February. Assaf was strongly in favour of giving residents the chance to express any concerns they may have.

Members of council collectively agreed that people were justifiably troubled over the price of their water, gas and garbage bills, and that an explanation as to why the costs are what they are was in order.

“Obviously,” declared councillor Mike Antal, “we’re hoping that over time the water rates will decrease.”

The public meeting was first scheduled to fall on April 7, but was changed to the 11th to avoid conflicting with the Travis Tritt concert at the Athabasca Regional Multiplex.

Mayor Don Radmanovich and village councillors will be at the Boyle Community Centre beginning at 7 p.m.
