BOYLE – The Boyle Huskies will have a new principal starting in late September.

Samuel Dumoulin will be taking over at Boyle School from outgoing principal Jason Mestinsek starting Sept 20., with Mestinsek taking his teaching talents to the post-secondary world after spending two years in the village.

“I’m thrilled about this opportunity. I believe my breadth of experience and past leadership roles are important assets, which will make positive and meaningful contributions to the staff and students,” said Dumoulin in an Aug. 19 press release.

Boyle School will be Dumoulin’s first stop at Aspen View, having previously worked at Conseil Scolaire Centre-Nord, the Francophone school division that serves north central Alberta. In his time there, Dumoulin worked as an assistant principal at schools in Red Deer, St. Albert, and Edmonton.

When students walk through the schools doors on Aug. 28, they’ll still be under the oversight of Mestinsek, who is staying on to help with the transition for the first three weeks of the school year. After that, Dumoulin will be overseeing the K–12 school.

In the release, Aspen View Public Schools wished Mestinsek well in his new role. As of July 2025, Mestinsek has been the new Associate Dean of Continuing Education at Red Deer Polytechnic.
