Boyle Village councillor Roger Hall has resigned for personal reasons, as his wife has accepted a job offer in St. Paul.

The councillor tendered his letter of resignation to village Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Charlie Ashbey after an in-camera session at council ís June 5 meeting.

Ashbey said Hall had notified him a couple days earlier.

According to village administrative assistant Corrine Cordingley, Hall served as a councillor for from from 1998 to 2007, and 2010 to 2013.

"St. Paul is where they're from, and (Hall ís wife) got a job offer in St. Paul," said Ashbey. "That's where their families are from, and they had planned to retire there eventually anyway, so it wasn't unexpected.

The resignation may not have been a surprise, but it was abrupt.

"It was pretty sudden, because when he tendered his resignation at the meeting, right at the end of the meeting, he had put the time on it for 9:30 that day," said Ashbey.

Deputy mayor Mike Antal noted Hall wasn't planning on seeking reelection.

Ashbey said council will not be having a by-election because the municipal election is quickly approaching anyway.
