BREAKING: Athabasca RCMP looking for help IDing truck and suspect

Oct. 25 traffic stop ended with officer injury and a fleeing vehicle

ATHABASCA – The Athabasca RCMP are asking the public for help identifying a pick-up truck that fled from the scene of a traffic stop, injuring an officer in the process.

On Friday Oct. 25, an RCMP member initiated a traffic stop on a white Ford F-150 following a suspicious vehicle complaint.

The driver, who appeared impaired, refused to provide the officer with identification. A hunting rifle was visible between the driver and his male passenger.

After the officer attempted to arrest the driver, the pick-up truck fled, injuring the officer in the process. The officer sustained minor injuries but was otherwise okay.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white 2009 to 2014 Ford F-150 four-door super crew, missing its passenger sideview mirror.

There is possible damage to the right headlight and passenger door, and a likely XLT trim line. The truck has running boards, chrome bumpers and grile, and Goodyear Duratrac tires.

It was covered in dried mud at the time of the traffic stop, and has a trailer hitch and no bed attachments.

The driver is described as a 60-65 year old male, with grey facial hair and glasses. He was wearing hunting camo at the time of the traffic stop, and was seen smoking.

His passenger is described as a 30-40 year old male, with an orange beard. He was wearing hunting camo and a toque, and also wears glasses.
