BOYLE — A woman is dead following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 63 near the hamlet of Breynat.
In a May 27 press release, Boyle RCMP announced a collision involving a sedan and a semi truck occurred on Highway 63 and Township Road 712 in the late afternoon of May 27.
The lone female driver of the sedan, believed to have been travelling northbound, collided with the rear end of a semi trailer travelling north in the same lane.
Police will not release the name of the deceased driver, who was declared dead on scene. The sole driver of the semi truck suffered non-life threatening physical injuries and was assessed and treated by EMS.
Athabasca County Fire Services and EMS were first on the scene, and a portion of Highway 63 near Township Road 712 will remain closed while an investigation unfolds. A detour is being established to redirect traffic, and both lanes are expected to be reopened later this evening.
