SLAVE LAKE – A 41-year-old Red Earth Creek man is dead after the car he was driving rear-ended a semi-tractor.

On Jan. 30, at approximately 2 p.m., Slave Lake RCMP attended a fatal collision between a car and semi-tractor on Highway 88 approximately 47 kilometres north of Slave Lake. The highway remained restricted to traffic in the area of the collision until approximately 11 p.m.

A preliminary RCMP investigation indicates the semi-tractor was travelling southbound on Highway 88 and slowed to turn onto a service road when a car, also travelling southbound, collided wit the rear of the truck.

The lone occupant of the car, a 41-year-old man from Red Earth Creek, was pronounced dead on scene. The male driver of the semi-tractor, who was also alone, was not injured.

Slave Lake RCMP, along with an RCMP Collision Analyst, continue to investigate the crash.
