BOYLE – A man caught piloting his vehicle 67 km/h over the posted limit earned a hefty fine but avoided having his driver’s licence suspended.

In Boyle Court of Justice June 27, Zdenko Stipin pleaded guilty to exceeding the maximum speed limit following a May 16, 2023, incident at 7:18 p.m., on Township Road 674 in Athabasca County where he was clocked by Boyle RCMP’s Integrated Traffic Unit travelling at 167 km/h in a 100-km/h zone.

As part of his plea, Stipin faces a $1,300 fine but avoided a 90-day suspension of his driver’s license.

Justice Carrie-Ann Downey accepted the guilty plea, giving him until the end of August to pay and warned him he could faces 10 days in jail if he doesn’t make good — Stipin assured the Justice that he would pay and asked for only a couple of weeks.
