Edwin Parr Composite will have two principals in September: Breanna Kowalchuk and Sean Morrison.

ATHBASCA – Students at Edwin Parr Composite School (EPC) will have two familiar faces introducing themselves as the principal when they return to school this fall.

Breanna Kowalchuk and Sean Morrison will be heading up EPC’s administrative team in their joint role as principal for the 2024-25 school year.

Kowalchuk and Morrison have both worked at EPC as assistant principals prior to their recent promotion; Kowalchuk has been in the role since 2018, while Morrison worked at EPC from 2013 to 2022 — and are excited to contribute to the school’s environment, according to a press release from Aspen View’s communications director Ross Hunter.

Kowalchuk began her career at Smith School in 2005, teaching Grades 3-9. She served as acting principal for the 2010 school year, before taking over the role on a full-time basis in 2012. She transferred to EPC in 2018, where she took a role as an assistant principal.

Kowalchuk holds an education degree from the University of Alberta, and a Master of Education from Concordia University.

Morrison got his career started in Calling Lake, 30 years ago. From there he moved to Athabasca in 1999, where he led the Junior High Knowledge and Employability program at EPC.

Morrison became one of EPC’s assistant principals in 2013, and he served in that role until he took over as principal at the Centre for Alternative and Virtual Education (The CAVE) in February 2022.

Morrison was Aspen View’s design lead for the new high school building and has coached basketball and volleyball throughout his career. He holds an education degree from the University of Alberta.

Starting this September, the CAVE will be administered through EPC. Assistant principal Ryan Mann is returning to his role this fall for his second year, and Aspen View is recruiting a part-time teaching/part time assistant principal role.
