A man charged with second degree murder and indignity to remains in the case of Gloria Gladue had his cased adjourned in Wabasca-Desmarais Provincial Court July 12.

The 68-year-old Grant Arthur Sneesby of Gladstone, Manitoba had his case adjourned until Aug. 23 for plea, according to Alberta Court Checks. Desmarais RCMP announced Sneesby's charges June 28 after recovering the remains of Gladue in rural Manitoba June 17. Gladue had been missing since Oct. 10, 2015, where she was last seen in the Wabasca area.

Gladue's daughter, Nicole Gladue-Weesemat said she and her family attended the Sneesby's first appearance in court.

"Me and my sister and my family members were sitting in the front row, basically. We were nervous, holding hands, shaking, wondering how this guy looks," Gladue-Weesemat said in an interview, adding the family had an emotional response when Sneesby appeared. "We just broke down, crying."

Gladue-Weesemat said the adjournment was for Sneesby to get a lawyer. She added she was informed if the case goes to trial, it would likely be in Peace River.

The June 28 Desmarais RCMP press release said Sneesby had been remanded into custody.

Gladue-Weesemat and her family had held multiple events in honour of her mother and other missing and murdered Indigenous women since Gladue went missing in 2015.

She said she plans to continue attending each one of Sneesby's court appearances.

"I'll be back in Wabasca Aug. 23," she said. "I just hope that justice is served for my mom, Gloria Gladue."
