Head-on collision causes injuries

A head-on collision on Highway 63 near Highway 663 caused three males in their twenties to be taken to hospital early this morning.

The driver of the Kia was air lifted to Edmonton via STARS after suffering from serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

Two male occupants of the Volkswagen were extracted from the vehicle and transported to Boyle Hospital.

The three males ranged in age from 26 to 28 and were from the Edmonton and Calgary areas.

At 5 a.m. the northbound Kia crossed the centre line and struck the southbound Volkswagen.

ìAn RCMP Collision Reconstructionist was brought to the scene to assist in determining a cause of the collision,î RCMP Cst. John Spaans said. ìThe investigation continues with the RCMP not ruling out driver fatigue, inattention or distracted driving.î

The RCMP has ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash.

No charges have been laid at this time.
