Two men are in custody in relation to a pair of home invasions on the Buffalo Lake MÈtis Settlement on Feb. 2.

After a three day Alberta-wide manhunt by the Boyle, Lac La Biche and Meadow Lake RCMP detachments, 20-year-old Dakota Clane Boudreau was arrested in Heart Lake First Nation (approximately 70km northeast of Lac La Biche) and 41-year-old David Norman Boudreau was arrested in Edmonton.

Dakota will appear in Boyle Provincial Court on Feb. 12 to face charges of uttering threats, aggravated assault, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, theft over $5,000, break and enter, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, failure to comply with a probation order and failure to comply with a recognizance.

Davidís court date has not been set. He faces charges of uttering threats, aggravated assault, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, theft over $5,000, break and enter and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

In the early morning hours of February 2, Boyle RCMP responded to two separate home invasions on the Buffalo Lake MÈtis Settlement. The suspects, Dakota and David Boudreau, are alleged to have broken into the residence of an 79-year-old male by kicking in the front door. Once inside, they confined two other residents of the house in a separate room and then repeatedly stabbed the victim. They then made an unsuccessful attempt to steal the victimís car, after which they came back and broke his nose and elbow. The victim remains in hospital.

Immediately following the incident, the pair went down the road to a second residence where they asked to use the phone. When the 70-year-old victim opened the door they forced their way inside, assaulted her and stole her vehicle. The victim was treated and released from the hospital. Her vehicle was recovered in Edmonton.

The victim at the first residence was known to the assailants, but the victim at the second residence was not.

ìThe citizens of Buffalo Lake and throughout Alberta can sleep easier tonight knowing that these suspects are now behind bars,î said Sgt. Kevin McGillivray, Detachment Commander of Boyle RCMP. ìWe knew that there was a chance they might be hiding out in Edmonton and thank the Edmonton Police Service for the critical role they played in this investigation.î
