Three fire departments were on the scene of a structure fire in Island Lake Summer Village on April 28.
At 10:31 a.m., Baptiste Lake Fire Department received a call of a structural fire located on Lakeshore Drive South. The department arrived approximately 15 minutes later to find a fully involved structure fire. ;
Athabasca County Fire Department and RCMP arrived on the scene at approximately 11 a.m. to assist the Baptiste Lake Fire Department in fighting the flames. The Colinton Fire Department was called for back up at 12:30 p.m. and all three departments had the fire under control at 12:40 p.m. ;
Athabasca County Regional Fire co-ordinator Steve Hamilton said that all three departments did “a heck of a job and they really worked their butt off. ” ;
Hamilton added the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but it is not believed to be suspicious. ;
No one was injured or in the house during the time of the fire.
