Although he confirmed a few months ago that a bid for re-election to St. Albert city council was in the cards, Coun. Gareth Jones made it official this week.

Jones, 70, has been a pleasant surprise during his first term on council. He does his homework and never shies away from tough questions, especially when he's delivering them.

It's been a busy week on the council front, and so much to talk about from the end of the St. Albert-Sturgeon intermunicipal development plan, terms of reference for a city wage review, construction starting on the second phase of redevelopment at Riel Park, and the release of the latest update to the city's downtown area redevelopment plan. And here I thought summer was about to start!

I've got some blog and column ideas about several of the above that I hope to kick to the web starting Monday.
