BOYLE — A man wanted on several charges was arrested after he eluded police for a day.
On Jan. 18 at 4 p.m. Boyle RCMP responded to call for service on the Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement after a complaint of a man who was armed and barricaded himself in a residence after committing an assault at that location.
Almost 24 hours later, at 2 p.m. Jan. 19, police learned William Curtis White, 31, had returned to the residence and with the help of members of the Boyle RCMP, RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT), RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS), and RCMP Air Services and at approximately 8 p.m., RCMP ERT members were able to enter the residence and arrest White.
The incident caused major delays on Highway 855 near Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement due to significant RCMP presence.
White is a resident of the Kikino Métis Settlement and had multiple outstanding warrants from several jurisdictions including forcible confinement, three charges of uttering threats, two charges of assault, and two charges of mischief.
In connection to the Buffalo Lake incident White was additionally charged with assault, three counts of assault with a weapon or causing bodily harm, two counts of failing to comply with a release order, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, careless use of a firearm, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Following a Judicial interim Release hearing White was remanded to custody and is scheduled to appear at Boyle Provincial Court Jan. 24.
