A home in Hees Estates has been destroyed after lightning started a fire.
At around 4:30 a.m. this morning, the RCMP were called to a house fire. When the fire department arrived, they found the house completely engulfed in flames. It took several hours for the fire to be put out.
Fire investigators determined that the fire was caused by a lightning strike during last night’s thunderstorm. Winesses say they heard a loud crash and saw a flash of light just before the house went up in flames.
There were no injuries resulting from the fire.
