Local singer Charla Gunderson is excited to announce the release of her first CD, Who Will Pray?

Gunderson is hosting a CD release concert at the Nancy Appleby Theatre on April 4 at 7 p.m. Tickets will only be sold at the door.

Tickets are $10 each for anyone 10 and older; for children under 10, tickets are $5.

Gunderson stated the event is family-friendly.

“I will be performing nine of the 10 songs on the CD,” she said.

Three extra songs will also be performed during the concert.

“There will be a full band, harmony singers, and it is geared around Easter,” she said. “All the music on the CD is original music.”

Gunderson said she enjoys songwriting and performing.

“My parents put me in piano lessons when I was six years old,” she explained. “I had always loved to sing and dance, and as I got older, I was in band in junior high and I picked up the flute.”

Someone suggested Gunderson learn how to play the guitar because it is an easy instrument to transport and accompany yourself with.

“I caught onto playing the guitar faster than I did the piano, and I started picking up instruments from there, and I have been writing songs for more than 13 years,” she said. “It is an accumulation of writing over the years.”

After the show, CDs will be available for purchase.
