The third annual colour run took place at Boyle School June 9, with money being raised for both Santa's Anonymous and the Boyle Food Bank.
Boyle in Colour 2018, as the event was called, was planned and put on by the Boyle School Leadership group.
"The kids involved in this group are in grades 9-12," grade 6 teacher and event facilitator Tara Laroue said in an email. "The all work inside and outside of the school planning events and volunteering their time. When it comes to this event, the students handled everything from start to finish."
In the email, Laroue said the group first began the planning in February/
"They called around for donations," she said. "They ordered supplies, and they called the village for approval of the route, Planning events like this gives the students valuable skills that they can carry forward later on in their lives."
Laroue added the event continues to gain in popularity every year.
"I believe this year we have our highest rate of participation ever," Laroue said. "We had 105 participants preregister, and 140 in total. Everyone who attended the event thoroughly enjoyed themselves."
She said the start and finish for the race were at the school's bus loop, with participants having the option of a three or five kilometre run. According to the event's Facebook account, each participant also had the option to collect pledges for the run as well.
"Last year, we made $3,200, which we donated to the Boyle School Playground Committee," Laroue said in the email. "But for now, we have not tabulated how much money was made this year, but I'm sure we beat last year's total."
Laroue added that she is extremely proud of the students to took on the big task of running this event.
