For close to 40 years, Doug and Liz Madsen have been giving to Boyle and the surrounding community and last week it was the community’s turn to give to them.
The Boyle and District Chamber of Commerce honoured the couple by dedicating a bench, complete with a plaque, that will be placed along the village’s Centennial Walking Trail, in recognition of their contributions to the area.
It was back in 1977 when the Madsen’s opened their grocery store and thus began years of helping Boyle with various community projects and events while providing outstanding service to their customers. Eleven years later, they were presented with the Alberta Small Business of the Year award, one of the highlights of the many business honours the couple have received.
The pair have also volunteer countless hours on all manner of projects and donating generously to groups around the area.
Liz’s work in the community earned her a Governor General award during Canada’s 125 anniversary as well as the Boyle Community Spirt award in 2009.
The Chamber is proud of their leadership and charitable work, salute them for everything they have done and wish them good health and happiness in the future.
