Athabasca RCMP reported that on Jan. 27 an hour before midnight, a man was robbed of his truck in Calling Lake at imitation gunpoint.

Speaking to media Feb. 2, Cpl. Dale Bereza said a complainant reported a man pulled out two handguns, which were later found to be fake, after an argument.

Bereza said the accused ordered the man to hand over his keys, who refused. The accused then broke the lock off the vehicle and drove away with it.

Bereza said the complainant ran beside the vehicle, banging on windows for the accused to stop. He said the accused pointed the firearm at the complainant – at that time believed to be real – and drove off.

A man was arrested a few hours later in Wabasca and was charged with robbery, mischief and using an imitation firearm in commission of an offence.

Marcel Gambler was scheduled to appear in Athabasca Provincial Court on Feb. 7.
