New associate principals named at three Aspen View schools

ATHABASCA – Aspen View Public Schools has announced the appointment of three associate principals to Edwin Parr Composite School (EPC), H.A. Kostash School in Smoky Lake and Vilna School for the 2023-2024 school year.

The new associate principal at Edwin Parr is Ryan Mann, who previously worked as the Grade 8/9 Knowledge and Employability Program teacher at the school.

Prior to joining Aspen View in 2022-2023, Mann had taught Grades 4-12 students for 26 years at various schools within the Parkland School Division.

Mann holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta.

Ashley Romaniuk, who has taught at H.A. Kostash since 2013, will be taking over as associate principal at the newly constructed Smoky Lake School.

Her entire teaching career has been spent within Aspen View, including two years at Grassland School and six years at Vilna School. She also took on a three-month term as acting assistant principal at H.A. Kostash.

Romaniuk also holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta.

Finally, Danielle Girard will be taking over as associate principal at Vilna School, where she has spent her entire teaching career.

Girard, who was Aspen View’s nominee for the Edwin Parr Award for exceptional first-year teachers, has experience with junior/senior high science, Grade 7 homeroom, Career and Technology Foundations (CTF and option courses.

She has also helped deliver daily basic literacy and numeracy skills for Grade 1-3 students. In addition to a Bachelor of Education degree from the U of A, she has a business administration certificate from Northern Lakes College.

In early May, the division announced the appointment of three new principals for EPC, Boyle School and Thorhild Central School.
